Entheogenic experiences are often referred to as 'journeys' for their ability to take one to great inner and outer depths. However, the end of an altered state is often when the journey really begins. This is the journey of integrating into consciousness the insights and openings one has encountered in their experience, in a form that can enrich their everyday lives, relationships, and sense of self. 

Such experiences are certainly not without their dangers as deep psychic openings can support movements of wholeness as well as fragmentation. It is in the aftermath of such painful and traumatic experiences that one needs support to re-member their sense of self and safety in the world within and around them. However, experiences of this kind, when adequately supported and integrated, have the potential to provide us with significant developmental movements of growth and maturation.
